Unboxing Loot Gaming’s April 2016 Box – Metro

Another month! Another unboxing! This is for Loot Gaming’s April 2016 Box – Metro. Last month’s box did impress me, especially the t-shirt which was top notch, however early previews and franchise announcements for this box have scared me because – as mentioned in last month’s Loot Gaming unboxing video – I’m not a huge fan of the games mentioned. I can still be impressed, but what did I make of this box? Here is this month’s video.

One thing I did manage to work out away from the video was what the Tom Clancy: The Division Gun was. It was actually a USB stick, that when you pull out the clip it is a 16GB USB drive. This did make it the coolest item in the box for me, and one that I will actually use (though I may not take it through airports).

All in all, I wasn’t too impressed unfortunately. Whilst the goods were great, I am not a huge fan of the franchises, so maybe I missed these. Which is a bit of a shame. Still if you were a fan you’d enjoy this box a lot more. Next month is going to be the last one (for my current subscription) so be sure to like the video and subscribe to my YouTube channel so that you can see it first.

Finally, apologies for the ending. I did have to cut a bit out due to me not understanding how links work. In videos going forward, I will know what I can & can’t link to, so hopefully I will have a less abrupt close.

Play Blackpool 2016 – Roundup Video

Last weekend was the fantastic Play Blackpool 2016, which was held in it’s traditional home of the Norbreck Castle, in Blackpool, on April 30th and 1st May 2016.

The Play Blackpool weekend is legitimately one of the funnest weekends of the year for me, I have a great time when I head there and this year was no exception. We had a great weekend even away from the video, with a curry, a trip to Coral Island, and a night out in Blackpool as well as what you can see. Apologies for the bags under the eyes, I may have been a little hungover!

A Correction

As Sociable Soccer on YouTube posted on the video, the “Season Mode” isn’t strictly true. It’s a competition mode with a cup or league, but no season (so whilst you can play the Premier League, you won’t be able to compete in a Premier League and FA Cup).

Other Notes

  • I actually found a nice B&B to stay in in Blackpool! If you ever get the chance to stay there, be sure to check out The Beaucliffe. A nice central location just outside of town, not expensive, great rooms, and a filling breakfast.
  • Sorry about the letterboxing in the beginning/end. It’s bad of me but I recorded it in selfie mode. I guess I’m still learning!
  • I won the raffle! I won a lot of Konami goods, mainly some pretty cool Metal Gear Solid Merchandise. The second time I won a raffle and this was probably the best. I would’ve done an unboxing video but I was encouraged by the crowd to unbox it on stage. It was filmed, but I’m not sure if I’ll show it, I disagreed with the trousers and I may have mooned the cameraman accidentally. But the gear is below.

Game Notes

Two games I mentioned playing were Sociable Soccer and Dead Pixels II. You can find out more about these games at the links below.

Play Expo Notes

As mentioned in the video, Replay Events have a bunch of shows and conferences coming up in 2016. If you can get along to them, please do so.

Unboxing Loot Gaming’s March 2016 Box – Legacy

One of the most popular posts since relaunch has been the Unboxing of the Mass Effect N7 Loot Crate, so when I saw that Loot Crate had introduced a Loot Gaming box, I thought about doing another couple of unboxing videos. After dropping about £75 for 3 subscription boxes, I received the first one over the weekend. Here is the video of the unboxing.

Overall, the t-shirt is the beauty of this box. I wore it to Play It! Manchester later that day and did drunkenly check myself out in the mirror wearing it, it’s that good. The scarf and socks are nice and well made if you’re a fan of the franchises. I’m very happy with the badges too as they seem like nice pieces, but the figurine I couldn’t really see a point to, which is a shame. So yes, the t-shirt I’d probably pay about £15 for, which I’d keep.

Also, according to the email received from Loot Crate, apparently there was also a BloodsportsTV game which, errr…wasn’t in the box from what I can see. Rubbish.

I’ve at least 2 more of these to do. Next month has seemingly franchises I don’t care much about (yes, I never got into Fallout 4 or Resident Evil, which is a big thing from next month’s box), so maybe the final one after that may be a lot more positive. Who knows? Be sure to like the video and subscribe to my YouTube channel so that you will find out about them first!

Rocket League Review

I had a bit of time over my Birthday Weekend (I turned 32 last week), so I thought I’d do a quick Rocket League review, probably one of my favourite games at the moment.

In short, Rocket League is a great game, and worth checking out if you’re an Xbox Live subscriber (or indeed on the PC or PS4), I’d recommend get this. It’s a great game to pass time with and you can easily play for 30 minutes or 2 or 3 hours. Online play really is where it’s at, as although there are some modes that you can play offline, it doesn’t have the same competitiveness as playing against your fellow human. As such, if you don’t play online, I’d probably skip this game. However, if you have Xbox Live, then this is a great game to add to your collection.

To find out more about Rocket League, be sure to check out their official site. You can get the game on Xbox One, or on PC via Steam.

Unboxing Mass Effect’s N7 Loot Crate

Before Christmas, I bought Mass Effect’s N7 Day Loot Crate, which was a special crate full of Mass Effect themed goodies. Mass Effect is one of my favourite franchises out there, so I snapped at the chance to buy it.

As a way to try and introduce some different content to the site, I thought about doing an unboxing video. So – a few months late – here is the video of the unboxing of the N7 Day Loot Crate.

Other Thoughts (Not Shared On The Video)

Whilst I’m happy with what I got, I do think that the crate focussed too much on the N7 Logo and less on the entire universe. I’d have liked to see something for some of the characters like Liara, Garrus, Tali or Grunt. The only race that was represented was the fairly minor race of Volus. So that was slightly disappointing.

I still haven’t read the comic either, but it’s on my “to-read” list!
